By bus to Piazzale Roma

ATVO express buses and ACTV line 5 "Aerobus" leave from outside arrivals and reach Piazzale Roma in about 20–25 minutes. From there, walk to your hotel or take a vaporetto along the Grand Canal. Combined tickets including 75 minutes of vaporetto travel are available, and ACTV travel cards can include the airport bus.

By Alilaguna water bus

The Alilaguna boats leave from the airport water terminal, a 10-minute covered walk from arrivals. The Blue line (Linea Blu) runs via Murano and Fondamente Nove to the Lido and San Marco; the Orange line (Linea Arancio) goes down the Grand Canal to Rialto and San Marco. Journeys take roughly 45 to 90 minutes depending on your stop, and one large suitcase is usually included.

By water taxi

A private water taxi from the airport dock to the centre takes about 30 minutes and is the most spectacular way to arrive, with drop-off at your hotel's water entrance where there is one. Prices are fixed per boat rather than per person, which makes it reasonable for families and groups. Shared water taxis are a cheaper middle ground.

Pre-booking a water taxi or shared transfer means a fixed price and a driver waiting at the dock.

From Treviso Airport

Ryanair and other budget airlines use Treviso (TSF), about 40 km from Venice. Buses timed with arrivals run to Mestre station and Piazzale Roma in about 60–70 minutes. Alternatively, take a local bus or taxi to Treviso station and a train to Venice.

Stay near the airport?

For very early departures, hotels around the airport and in Mestre are cheaper and closer than the historic centre, and the first buses leave Piazzale Roma around 4:30–5 am.
