The Dolomites and Lake Garda

Without a car, the Dolomites are best done as a guided day trip: coaches leave Piazzale Roma early in the morning for Cortina d'Ampezzo, Lake Misurina and sometimes Lake Braies. Lake Garda is reachable by train to Desenzano or Peschiera and a short bus or boat ride, but tours make it easier to see several lake towns in one day.

Small-group Dolomites tours from Venice visit Cortina, mountain lakes and alpine viewpoints in one day.
